SATURDAYS OFF THE 405

I spent all Saturday in LA. We went to Cafe 50s (one of my favorites!) for a late lunch and then headed to the Getty. While there, we were pleasantly surprised to learn about Saturdays off the 405, a free open air concert series the Getty has been doing all summer. Yesterday's performance just happened to be Kyp Malone's side project Rain Machine. Best Friend, who is a a huge TV on the Radio fan, was ecstatic. I was impressed with their set, the intimate "venue" only making it better.

Free entry, live entertainment and a beautiful view, I'm not sure of a better way to spend a Saturday. More photos of the Getty (and Rain Machine) on my flickr.

Cheers to Me & You

On this day 5 years ago (or maybe not because it's after midnight now), I met a very special person. Happy Anniversary. A half decade has flown by, but in the best way imaginable.

Oh and thank you for the wonderful gift:

I've already spent the last hour on ebay bidding on film. Between this and the vintage Minolta+telephoto lens I found in our house last week, my sweet little collection of cameras is acquiring more vintage.

And on a completely unrelated note...

Ever since this whole picture quality issue (which I still haven't figured out and don't really care to anymore), I've been neglecting blogger. I started a flickr so you can check that out if you want, but I'll probably still update on here. It's been a busy and exhausting couple of weeks and hopefully I'll start taking more pictures soon! G'night interweb.

HELP

Blogger is seriously degrading the quality of some of my pictures. When I look at this post from earlier today on my laptop (a mac) it shows up as the grainier, dull version on the left. The one on the right is the actual file that I uploaded to blogger. When I check on the pc downstairs or at work, the brighter version is what shows up. Why is this happening and does anyone know how to fix this??? The color space settings on my camera are sRGB so I'm really confused...

Tragic Summer

So many celebrities have passed this summer.

Bright Skies

These pictures were taken around 5pm in my backyard (the poor, neglected part of it that no one ever goes to) and have been uploaded straight out of my camera. The natural lighting was great.

Park Adventures

Limitless possibilities with a camera. It's a little incomplete though. There were 3 or 4 more scenes I wanted to add to this, but goofed and didn't photograph them landscape.

Hair, There, Everywhere

If you haven't noticed from my past few posts, I've been lagging on the whole "get outside and shoot" attitude I was hoping to embrace. Outside is hot, inside is boring, I am lazy. And I feel the need to rant a little...So I give you tonight's subject:

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's HAIR.

I cut about 12 inches of my hair off last May. My hairstylist then gave me an overzealous trim in November. And while I loved the grown out bob I got over a year ago, all I have wanted for the past 6 months is for my hair to be long again. I swear it has been at this middle length for way longer than is normal. I don't personally believe in extensions, nor do I color my hair (never have and I don't plan on in the future). So whenever I get bored with my hair, I opt for fringe bangs as an instant makeover. But in this heat, they lasted all of 4 days before I just started pinning them back. What's even more frustrating is about 3 people in the last month have asked me "Aw, did you cut your hair?" No, people, I did not. Why would I choose to keep my hair at this boring, drab length? I don't even use my flat iron any more because stick straight only emphasizes the unfortunate length. Is it just me or does anyone else's hair seem to grow to a certain length and then stop for awhile? Are there vitamins I can take to speed the process? Can I just blame the triple digit weather? Why am I asking so many questions? And did I really just maniacally blog about my hair at 3am?

I can't be the only one--what keeps you up thinking at random hours of the night?

Desperately Seeking Stilettos

Since my closet is full of them, I've been resisting the urge to buy heels. My self control held up for quite awhile but Monday night I was overcome with the need for a killer stiletto-- I'm talking borderline stripper here. Nearing 5'9, I definitely don't need the extra height, but the way I see it, I'm already taller than everyone so why not sport some great shoes while I'm up here? That being said, I ordered these babies on Monday and they arrived today. Gotta love Revolve's efficient shipping.

Photographing shoes is more fun than it should be. Oh and did anyone else feel the insane heat today? I'm hoping my car's reading was wrong because if not, I seriously think the apocalypse is coming for us all. Ya know, that or global warming.

Cue Martha and the Vandellas.

The Adventures in Babysitting

Such a classic, and also aptly titled for these pictures from my play-date with my niece yesterday. I originally hoped to get some good shots of my niece (not for blogger). After chasing her around the room for a good 20 minutes and nothing to show for it, I decided to take advantage of the bright colored toys and photograph them instead.

Anxiously waiting for "Belle" -- her favorite Princess song. Once it came on, she sang along to all of the words. Nothing beats a 3 year old singing lyrics like "Bonjour!" and "Good morning, Monsieur."
